Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri has been named the World’s Most Powerful toddler. A new poll by Forbes magazine has put the two-year-old ahead of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s brood of kids in the search for the most influential child under the age of five. Other children featured in the survey include David Banda, Madonna’s adopted tot with estranged husband Guy Ritchie, Victoria and David Beckham’s youngest son Cruz, and Britney Spears’ three year old son Sean Preston with ex Kevin Federline.

Christina Aguilera will reportedly open the show with a seven-minute medley of her greatest hits including “Genie in a Bottle,” “Fighter,” “Beautiful,” “Keeps Gettin’ Better” and “Dirrty.” “We are very excited to have Christina Aguilera perform at this year’s show,” Dick Clark Productions President Orly Adelson told Usmagazine.com. “She raises the bar with each live performance and you can expect something special at the 2008 American Music Awards.” I have my Tivo set and ready to go.
Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester is gearing up to record her debut album. The actress, who plays socialite Blair Waldorf in the hit U.S. teen drama, is following her lifelong dream to be a singer by penning and recording new material. And Meester loves the recording process, because it’s completely different from filming a TV show. She tells Access Hollywood, “I’ve always done (music), just now I am actually doing an album that I plan to release. Just remember what happened to Joey Lawrence and Brian Austin Greene when they tried to release albums.
Justin Timberlake has a new home on the east coast, after closing his deal on a multi-million dollar New York condo. The pop star had reportedly started negotiations on the Tribeca apartment last week, initially priced at $5.25 million. And according to city records, Timberlake has now signed off on the deal for $4.774 million. The “SexyBack” singer - who lives with girlfriend Jessica Biel in his Los Angeles mansion - has reportedly been on the hunt for a Manhattan pad since September. See now this way he can take strippers and panty-droppers home from Scores.
The members (ha I said Members) of Blink 182 have been brought back together by the tragedy of Travis Barker’s near-death plane crash in September. Barker suffered second and third-degree burns in the tragedy, which left four people dead, and spent almost a month in hospital recovering from his injuries. And now it looks as if the terrible accident has brought his feuding former bandmates Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge back together. In a posting on his blog, Hoppus says, “We’re just reconnecting as friends after four years of not talking. It’s a good thing.” But he insists it’s too early to start talking about a possible reunion: “We haven’t talked about it at all. Right now it’s just good for the three of us to see one another, reconnect and let the past be the past.” Do I smell a tour coming out of tragedy? Oh I think I do.
Jason Mraz has become the latest star to find a sideline as an avocado farmer. The singer/songwriter has purchased a fruit farm in San Diego, California, and admits he loves nothing better than to go avocado hunting. He tells Rolling Stone magazine, “I walk out there with my tote bag and it’s like an Easter egg hunt. Some days I come back with hundreds of avocados.” But, unlike fellow farmers Tom Selleck and Larry Hagman, who also own avocado farms in California, Mraz has no plans to turn a profit from his sideline. Instead, he uses his avocados to perfect recipes - and he wants to turn his sprawling country estate into a go-kart mecca. He explains, “It’s the perfect place, winding through the avocado groves. We’ll put out some hay bales and start up a Jason Mraz Grand Prix.” Sounds kind of lame to me.
Apparently Paris is single again. A source close to Hilton told People.com that the socialite and her boyfriend Good Charlotte rocker boyfriend, Benji Madden, are dunzo. “She is saddened by the breakup but they’re just too different and they wanted different things in life,” the source told the magazine. “He was loyal and sweet but it was time to take a break.” Eh, I bet Nicole and Joel are next. That’s what besties do.
And finally, Taylor Swift, insists her heart has already healed just a month after she was ditched by ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas - and she’s looking forward to finding new love. Jonas dumped the 18-year-old last month during a 27-second telephone conversation in favor of actress Camille Belle, who he met on the set of the Jonas Brothers’ “Lovebug” video. But Swift is refusing to be downbeat about the love split and has already started the search for Mr. Right. She says, “You know what? I’m going to meet somebody, someday who is so wonderful, and I’m not even going to remember the other guys. Later on I definitely want to fall in love and get married and have kids. I believe in love, wholeheartedly.” Eh, I think that your Mr. Right is living in North Jersey, and it is me.
