U.S. drug enforcement agents and Los Angeles police on Wednesday raided a Houston clinic owned by Conrad Murray, the doctor who was with pop icon Michael Jackson when he died, searching for information on the singer’s use of the anesthetic, propofol. Agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration entered the Armstrong Medical Clinic in north Houston to serve a search warrant in an effort to help Los Angeles police probing the death of the “Thriller” singer, said Rusty Payne, a Washington-based spokesperson for the agency. Payne declined to give details because the Texas search warrant remained sealed. A Los Angeles police spokeswoman confirmed that their detectives served the warrant with the assistance of the DEA, but declined to say what investigators were looking for. One law enforcement official, who declined to be named, said the focus of the search was the strong narcotic propofol, also known as Diprivan, which has repeatedly been named in media reports as a drug Jackson was said to be taking before he died on June 25. Murray’s attorney, Ed Chernoff, was not immediately available to comment, but said in a statement posted on his website on Tuesday that his client was continuing to cooperate with investigators looking into the cause of Jackson’s death. Eddie Cibrian’s wife Brandi Glanville confirms she has left him amid reports the actor is having an affair with married singer-actress Leann Rimes. Cibrian and Rimes recently co-starred in the Lifetime television movie “Northern Lights.” “Eddie and I have decided to take some time apart,” Glanville told Usmagazine.com. “I want to do what is best for our children. Eddie and LeAnn deserve each other.” Cibrian has two young children, ages 6 and 2, with Glanville. Rimes has been married for seven years to Dean Sheremet. E! News quoted Rimes as denying she is having an affair with Cibrian. Rimes reportedly has not responded to Glanville’s remarks regarding her alleged involvement in Cibrian and Glanville’s breakup. Oh no, that’s not good.
Kiefer Sutherland has been cleared of head butting a fashion designer after the case was dropped by officials. The 24 star was accused of attacking stylist Jack McCullough for no reason in New York in May. McCollough was hospitalized with a broken nose after the alleged encounter. Sutherland maintained he accosted the designer after he barged past actress pal Brooke Shields, who backed up the TV star’s story, calling the incident “unfortunate.” Sutherland was due to appear in court on Friday to face the charges, but the trial date was pushed back until further notice. Now the Manhattan District Attorney has scrapped the trial altogether because officials consider the accusations too small to be considered a level of criminal behavior. How come if I head butted someone, I would be in jail. Shady Kiefer, super shady.
Jennifer Love Hewitt’s publicist is denying a report claiming the television actress is engaged to her beau, actor and comedian Jamie Kennedy. The couple, who co-star on TV’s “Ghost Whisperer,” have dated for less than a year. The New York Post said Kennedy proposed to Hewitt on-stage during his stand-up comedy show at the Laugh Factory in Long Beach, Calif., last weekend. The newspaper also said the actress agreed to be his bride. “There is no truth to the report,” Hewitt’s representative told Usmagazine.com. And to think I once had a crush on her. Man, has she changed.
Little Miss Britney Spears could soon regain control of her financial affairs – her father Jamie is reportedly ready to give up his duties as her legal guardian. Spears’ father was made conservator of her estate after her 2008 meltdown which led to the star being taken to hospital for psychiatric evaluation. Jamie filed a legal document last month certifying he had obtained a $1.5 million bond to keep her assets from being pillaged and ensure he would remain her financial guardian until the end of the year. A judge will then review the terms of the arrangement – and a new report from TMZ.com suggests the elder Spears believes his daughter, who is currently touring the world with her Circus show, has proved she can now take care of herself without the legal arrangement. Vendors on Spears’ tour have been told the conservatorship will remain throughout the trek, which ends in November. Woohoo, that’s a huge step in the right direction, way to go Britney.
It sounds like the fake belly bump Jennifer Lopez is wearing for her new movie The Back-Up Plan is giving her some ideas. The singer-actress admits that she and her husband Marc Anthony would like to give their 18-month-old twins Emme and Max a sibling or two. “I would love to have more kids,” the actress tells Extra Television. “I don’t know if we will. I don’t know if that’s in the cards for us – but we’ll see.” Lopez, who turns 40 on Friday, also opens up about the joys of watching her twins grow up. “They’re more than walking now … They’re starting to talk,” she says. “I put Max to bed yesterday … and I said, ‘I love you baby. I’ll see you tomorrow.’ And he was like, ‘I love you.’ “As long as her ass does not get any bigger, than she is golden.
Speaking of J-Lo – Marc Anthony has a new project in the works – and it’s not musical: The singer has become a partial owner of the Miami Dolphins, Anthony tells PEOPLE exclusively. “I’m a huge sports fan,” says Anthony, 40. “These opportunities don’t come around too often. It’s quite an honor and a privilege to be able to sit here today saying that I’m a part-owner of an NFL team.” Anthony struck a deal with Stephen Ross, the New York-based real estate entrepreneur who bought a 95-percent stake in the Dolphins franchise in January. The singer did not disclose the financial terms. “It would have probably been cheaper just to buy season tickets,” he said, joking. Wow, now that is a new way to make more money.
And finally, After a four-year hiatus, VH1 will bring back the legendary live concert event “VH1 Divas” by featuring some of pop music’s most talented female artists – Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus. The “VH1 Divas” concert will be televised live on VH1 on Thursday, September 17 at 9:00pm. For the first time ever, these leading ladies at the top of their musical game will perform together live at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) Howard Gilman Opera House in Brooklyn, New York. Continuing in true “Divas” tradition, the evening will feature a night of unforgettable performances from various performers, presenters and special guests. Additional performers and presenters will be announced in the coming weeks. Um, yeah is it just me, or does Miley Cyrus not belong along with these great women in music.
